First Roots – Wild Roots is looking for a Preschool Co-Teacher to join our passionate team of educators in a 5-STAR, nature-based early childhood program. Here, teachers are respected professionals, collaboration is valued and the outdoors is an extension of the classroom.

What You’ll Do:
As a Preschool Co-Teacher, you’ll help create a classroom where children ages 3–5 feel safe, curious, and inspired to explore.
You will:
- Bring learning to life
- Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests
- Design indoor and outdoor environments that spark curiosity, creativity and problem-solving
- Use observation and documentation to support children’s growth in alignment with Vermont Early Learning Standards
Teach through nature:
- Incorporate outdoor exploration, natural materials, storytelling and play-based learning
- Support children as they develop language, social skills, independence and confidence
Build meaningful relationships:
- Develop warm, respectful relationships with children and their families
- Collaborate closely with your teaching partners and colleagues
- Help create a welcoming, supportive classroom community
Support a culture of sustainability:
- Help maintain eco-healthy classroom practices
- Encourage children’s connection to the natural world
- Participate in staff initiatives that strengthen our program culture
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for educators who bring both skill and heart to their work.
Ideal candidates will have:
- 2+ years of experience working with children ages 3–5
- Education in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Environmental Education, Ecology or related fields
- A passion for nature-based learning and outdoor exploration
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- A sense of curiosity, flexibility, and humor
